Inglenook

Retail Store Marketing

Inglenook is a bakery and bookstore concept imagined in Denver, Colorado. Inglenook specializes in Portuguese pastries and has walls lined with bookshelves and filled with used books. They needed a full branding package with stylesheet, logo, stationary and menu.

Role

Designer

Brief

Define a signature style for the bakery with a logo, stylebook and graphic design deliverables across multiple marketing disciplines.

Step 1: Discovery

Inglenook needed an extensive design package with stylesheet, logo, stationary, menu and various event advertisements.

To build the brand identity, each of these deliverables needs to convey the same feeling of warmth and comfort. The event advertisements should highlight how Inglenook prioritizes working with local artists.

Target Audience:

Denver locals, book lovers and professionals needing a space to work away from home.

Desired feel:

Warm, Welcoming, Local, Academic, Homey

Goals for the project:

Define Inglenook as a recognizable brand with a consistent design identity.

Step 2: First Draft

Inglenook was fortunate in that they had a strong vision for how they wanted the business to be perceived. Inglenook would have big cozy chairs by the fire with free Wi-Fi and live local jazz in the evenings. Colors should be dark and rich, like the colors of old book bindings. With this direction I mocked up the first draft of the logo
